Poverty, caregiving without support, workplace discrimination, chronic illness, housing insecurity — these impose stress loads that individual coping strategies cannot fully offset. The research on social determinants of health is consistent: structural interventions (income support, healthcare access, workplace protections) have larger effects on population-level stress outcomes than any individual technique.

Personal stress management matters. The conditions that create inescapable, chronic stress at scale matter more.
